ANSTED UNIVERSITY ASIA REGIONAL SERVICE CENTER ORGANISES INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AND WORKSHOP IN PENANG, MALAYSIA, TO PROMOTE CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY GLOBALLY

The Ansted University Asia Regional Service Centre is organizing an international conference in Penang, Malaysia, as part of its strategic civic objectives to promote corporate social responsibility globally.

The event is deemed to be timely as Malaysia develops its role in encouraging and advocating a greater sense of social responsibility towards society, the environment, and ensuring a better future for mankind and the rest of the world, among corporations, governmental and non-governmental orgainsations.

Just as individual persons have a responsibility to society and the environment, so too all corporations, organizations and even governments around the world have such a duty of care and responsibility towards maintaining and upgrading society and the environment. For such corporations, organizations and governments, this is even more so, as the effect such incorporated entities have on society and the environment is far larger if compared with an individual.

The Conference is scheduled to take place at the world-class Equatorial Hotel from the 21st to the 23rd of November 2004 and will be held in conjunction with the university’s Annual Graduation and Ansted Social Responsibility International Award Conferment Ceremony for 2004.

The event will bring together many experts and learned members from over 60 countries from various reputable universities, Non-Governmental Organisations and Multinational Corporations, the university’s globally distributed academic faculties, professors, doctorate holders and associate professors from many other prestigious universities, international corporate figures, professionals and other world renowned speakers. Some of the Federal and State Government leaders of Malaysia will be invited as VIPs to grace the event. The organizing secretariat will be liaising with both the State and Federal Protocol in this respect.

The event is a follow up of the first such conference on the subject of corporate social responsibility which was held in England last year, and was also organised as a kind of annual event.

The Conference Project will be managed by a joint Executive Board / Steering Committee comprising the university’s Event Organising Committee headed by Professor Dr. Roger Haw, and the university’s Scientific Committee headed by Professor Dr. David Crowther, who hails from England, and is an prominent expert on the subject of Corporate Social Responsibility.

A press conference to launch and announce the coming grand event will be held at 10.00 a.m. on Saturday, 29th of May 2004, at The Equatorial Hotel in Penang !
